TTES No.18 is also called “Ruby”. Tea Research & Extension Station bred this tea cultivar with “Burma large leaf black tea” and “Taiwan indigenous wild tea” and announced in 1999. It is mainly cultivated in Yuzi, Nantou. It is hot and humid around Sun Moon Lake. The annual average rainfall is 2,900 centimeters, the humidity is 85% and the annual average temperature is 19.7°C in this area. There are 1,670 sunlight hours in total every year. Tea trees can be planted on east, west, south and north slopes at an altitude of 700 to 1,000 meters above sea level. The geographical conditions are similar to those of Assam tea cultivation areas in India so the quality of black tea from Sun Moon Lake is very good.

Ruby Black tea not only has special aroma but also high-quality and good production. Its large leaves contain abundant Theanine and substances that are essential to the taste. The taste of Ruby Black Tea is a combination of citrus aroma shared by most black tea, cinnamon and mint flavors and caramel sweetness. The bright red liquid color glows like ruby and will be a stunning advantage for the international market of black tea.
